BNSF Train Breaks Down, Closes Multiple Intersections

County officials report all train tracks are blocked after a BNSF train, approximately three miles long, experienced A/C issues and broke down, blocking several intersections including 9th Avenue, 5th Avenue, Broadway, Avenue B, 20th Street, and Avenue I.

 

The highways on the outer edges of town remained open for those willing to travel 'around' the blockages.

 

There wa significant traffic backup at the Highway 26/92 overpass; Nebraska State Patrol assisted with rerouting traffic. Just needed 10-49 at this time. No other incidents have been reported.
